Deep Sea Fishing
Leave the scenic harbour of historic Lunenburg aboard the "Islander VIII” bound for the pristine waters of the North Atlantic for a fun half-day of fishing. We will sail by the lighthouse at the entrance to Lunenburg, and then by famous sea caves at Ovens Natural Park. Keep an eye out for dolphins, whales, and the occasional giant Ocean sunfish, or Bluefin Tuna!
We will provide you with bait, rods and reels. Our fishing gear consists of custom made rods with Penn 309 level wind reels loaded with 30lb test line. Avid anglers are welcome to bring their own tackle.
Fish caught are Cod, Mackerel, Dog Fish, Haddock, Halibut, Pollock or Wolf Fish.
We sail twice a day:
Mornings - 08:00-12:00
Afternoon - 13:00-17:00
We offer Deep Sea fishing in a group/public option, or you may rent the boat and have a private deep sea fishing experience

Adult: $75.00+tax per person
Children 12 and under: $60.00+tax per child
Min Passengers to sail: 8 or pay equivalent for 8 Adults ($600+tax)
Max Passengers: 20 passengers
1/2 day Private Deep Sea Fishing
15 persons: $1200+tax
each additional person after 15 people is $40.00+tax up to a max of 20 people.
Shark Fishing
Shark fishing is a full-day experience. The sharks caught are Blue, Mako, and some Porbeagles. We leave the wharf in Lunenburg at 8 am for a one and a half hour trip to the fishing grounds. Whales, dolphins, giant bluefin tuna, turtles, and ocean sunfish are often sighted on our way out, so keep your camera ready. We supply all of the bait and gear during your shark trip and you are welcome to try some deep-sea fishing while you are waiting for the big one!
Our fishing rods are Penn Senator rods matched with 130 Penn reels loaded with 120 lb. test Dacron, sporting 2mm S.S. leaders. We also offer spinning rods and flies on S.S. leaders for those experienced fishers who would like to feel a 300lb animal on light tackle, or you are welcome to bring your own tackle including fly rods. Hook and release is required by law unless it is a tournament. These fish are landed and must be donated to science. Catch rates are awesome but nothing is guaranteed!

Diving
Capt. Bill is a commercial diver with over 35 years of diving experience. Bill has been diving the waters of Lunenburg Bay since 1974 searching for shipwrecks or just having fun. He will keep you entertained with stories of local wrecks, and deep sea salvage expeditions on your way out and between dives.
Visit the HMCS Saguenay, the 366 ft. Canadian destroyer sunk in 1994 in Lunenburg Bay. The wreck sits on her starboard side in 95 ft. of water. Seals are now seen during most dives and often play with the divers during their safety stops. The wreck site is only 25 min. from the wharf in downtown Lunenburg aboard Islander VII.
We do not manage the dive charters, but local dive shops put together groups and use Islander as there platform of choice for completing these dives. That does not mean we are not willing to take groups out to the wreck, if you would like to charter the boat it will follow the same rates as a half day charter which will include enough time for two dives on the Saguenay.
While the Saguenay is the highlight in the area there is some great reef diving as well as tech diving in the area such as the British sub HMS L-26 in 175ft oft water near St. Margaret’s Bay.
